Senseis and Karate History

This section of our site gives information on the history of karate, and on the major figures involved in our style - Shotokan, both past and present. as well as a profile of our dojo Sensei - Mark Donaghy.

Sensei is the Japanese term for a master or great teacher, it can be used to describe anyone whom has attained a high level of achievement in any walk of life, from lawyers, doctors, scientists, politicians etc. but in the context of karate it means the instructor. or leaders of the governing body.
